If you have been to a dentist, you are used to the scraping and polishing. But at Junction Family Dental Care, we start with science.
Every new patient and every existing patient due for a Comprehensive Oral Examination receives a complimentary saliva analysis using a compound light microscope. Why? Since gum disease is an infection, but it is often invisible to the naked eye until it is too late. By looking at a sample of your plaque together on a screen, we can identify the type and activity of bacteria in your mouth. This allows us to catch imbalances before they become disease, connecting the dots between your oral flora and any symptoms that you may be experiencing such as occasional bleeding gums or pain.
pH analysis help us to understand the acidic or basic nature of your mouth. An acidic environment, pH values less than 7, is the perfect conditions for Streptococcus Mutans – the cavity causing bacteria. A basic environment, pH values higher than 7, is the perfect conditions for plaque and calculus buildup which will impact your gum health.
Once we know what we are dealing with, we treat it gently but effectively.
It is a spa-like experience for your gums that leaves them healthier, naturally.
